Lesson In Perseverance

Bradley Starks

WVU wide receiver Bradley Starks seemed as if he was headed for a lost senior season until his four-catch, three touchdown performance against UNLV.

Starks' injury-plagued career has kept him from being the sort of consistent contributor at wideout that his skills suggested he could be. Nagging problems caused him to miss substantial portions of spring and fall football practice prior to his senior season, and when youngsters such as Stedman Bailey and Tavon Austin moved past him on the depth chart, it looked as if the talented Virginian would end his career as a performer that never was able to make the most of his talents.

Against UNLV, however, Starks showed what he can do when he is healthy and able to work. His 100-yard receiving day, highlighted by three touchdown catches, was the best scoring performance by a WVU wideout since 1977.

In this interview, Starks discusses his day, and addresses the injuries and issues that kept him off the field, and how he was able to overcome the challenges they presented.
