While many 2011 recruits recently signed their letters of intent, Vance and Vernard Roberts from the…
"It surprised us," Vernard Roberts said of his family's initial reaction to the coaching shakeup at WVU, which will bring Dana Holgorsen to the Mountaineers staff in 2011 and put him in charge one year later. "My brother told me about it, and it caught us off guard, with the way it came out all of a sudden. At first we were shaken up by it, but we called our recruiting coach, Coach Beatty, and he said they were still solid with us. He talked with our dad, and said everything was still good. Then we looked at the new coach's resume, and it speaks for itself. So, right now, we we believe it will all work out for the best. We think we are blessed that he is coming in our freshman year." Both Vernard and Vance Roberts admitted to taking a long look at the situation, and discussing options, but in the end decided that the things that made them choose West Virginia initially were still valid. Vance Roberts "We have talked about it a lot," Vernard said. "My brother and I talked about it, and we discussed it with our parents, and we looked at everything about it. We still believe that West Virginia is solid for us right now. If something drastic happened we might have to look at something else, but right now we are solid with West Virginia. We don't have any trips planned anywhere or anything like that." The Roberts are still planning to enroll at West Virginia for the second semester of the school year, and are planning to be in Morgantown less than three weeks from now. "We are supposed to go up on Jan. 7th," Vernard said. "We both are graduated and have everything in order, and everything looks good for us to enroll."
