As his WVU players put on full pads for the first time of spring practice on Wednesday, Bill Stewart expressed his satisfaction with the effort level the Mountaineers have given throughout the first week of drills, but saying in the same breath that his players "need to polish the little things."

"We're still on the ground too much," Stewart said just after his team concluded its fourth practice of the spring on Wednesday morning. "I don't think we're tackling well, but we're hitting. I don't see a lot of wrapping up by our defense, and I don't see a lot of great second effort by our offense."

"The intensity is good. The trying to be physical is good. But we're not finishing drills."

Stewart further expounded upon his observations from the first week of West Virginia's spring practice and touched on several other topics in this interview.
