Less than a month after losing Dalton Pepper to the transfer rolls, West Virginia is apparently on the other end of that list with former Dayton Flyer Juwan Staten.

Staten, who was on a visit to West Virginia on Saturday, tweeted the following: "After this long wait I have finally decided where I will finish out my collegiate basketball career...West Virginia University!"

Staten originally attended Marshall High School in Dayton, but played his final year of prep ball at Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. He committed to Dayton over an offer from Xavier, but during his first year with the Flyers expressed disenchantment with some aspects of the program. Despite a starting role and a spot on the Atlantic 10 all-rookie team, Staten decided to transfer, settling on Penn State. However, the surprising departure of Nittany Lion coach Ed DeChellis again put Staten in limbo, and after brief consideration he decided to again open his transfer option.

Staten got appreciable time for Dayton during his freshman season, averaging 8.5 points and a better than 2-1 assist to turnover ratio while playing 29 minutes per game. He shot just 38.8% from the field, but managed 29 steals while starting all but one game for the Flyers.

In an odd twist, Staten's All-Ohio Red AAU team once faced off against the Ohio BBall club, which featured West Virginia signee Noah Cottrill. Both players performed well in the spring 2009 match-up, with Staten's team taking the win on a pair of Staten free throws with four seconds left.
