West Virginia picked up a verbal commitment from 4-star receiver Deontay McManus of Baltimore Paul Laurence Dunbar High School on Saturday evening.
ESPN.com's Bruce Feldman first reported the verbal, citing a conversation with McManus' coach at Dunbar, Lawrence Smith, who also coached current Mountaineer star Tavon Austin at the same school.
BlueGoldNews.com then confirmed the commitment with Smith.
"He's a great fit for Coach [Dana] Holgorsen's offense," Smith told BlueGoldNews.com. "We saw what he did at Oklahoma State, and we think he will be perfect in that offense.
"He's a big, physical wide receiver that's too quick for linebackers and too big for cornerbacks to cover."
In gaining the receiver's word, WVU is in a spot envied by many of the nation's top football powers. McManus held offers from Ohio State, Oregon, Michigan and Penn State among a host of other top programs.
BlueGoldNews.com and Scout.com will have more on this story as it develops.
