It is hard for any talented player from New York to be under the radar, but Doudmy Saint Hilaire managed to accomplish the feat. Now Saint Hilaire is beginning to emerge.

There never seems to be a shortage of guards coming out of Brooklyn. The area has long produced talented perimeter players, and in the 2014 class another seems to be emerging. While not as well known as classmate Isaiah Whitehead, Doudmy Saint Hilaire proved his worth over the summer.

For Saint Hilaire his summer finished at the Hoop Group Future All-American Camp where he made the all-star game and was one of the top players at the event from start to finish. At 6-foot-2 with good athleticism, Saint Hilaire stood out, and the performance capped off an impressive summer.

“This summer went very well,” said Saint Hilaire. “As a freshman I didn’t get that much burn with my varsity team, so this summer I worked hard and got better. Now I think I will have a spot in my 10th grade year.”

As a sophomore Saint Hilaire will team up with four star 2013 guard Terrence Samuel to form one of the best young backcourts in the city for South Shore High School.

“Me and (Samuel) have been on the same team since seventh grade even though he was a grade higher than me,” said Saint Hilaire. “He wanted me to come with him to South Shore and I did, and I think we will have a great year.”

While it is still early on in the process, Saint Hilaire indicates that some colleges have already begun to show him attention on the recruiting trail.

“I have heard from South Carolina and West Virginia,” he explained. “Also my coach says that Syracuse and Cincinnati are looking at me.”

For now though the focus for Saint Hilaire is to continue to get better. With the ball he is an accomplished slasher to the rim, but now he is working to round out his skills on the offensive end.

He continued about his recruitment, “I am excited, but I know that I have to work hard and continue to get better in order to keep coaches looking at me.”

“My driving skills are good,” said Saint Hilaire. “I feel I can get to the rim any time I want to. I am just working on my outside shot and my left hand.”
