West Virginia guards Taylor Palmer and Brooke Hampton showed visible signs of wear after West Virginia's rugged 69-57 win over Marshall.

The game had 52 fouls, but could probably have included another 20 calls without complaint. The WVU - Marshall contest was a physical affair, but it also included lots of grabbing, shoving and pushing that more properly belonged on a football field. The end result was a grinding game, one that took its toll on players. Palmer limped to the sidelines on more than one occasion, and appeared for interviews with a large ice bag taped to her left knee. Hampton discussed the impact the style of play had on the game, and also offered her opinion on why the contest often devolves into a slugfest.
