West Virginia senior guard Darryl “Truck” Bryant was the victim of a battery reported by a third party on High Street in downtown Morgantown in the overnight hours of Sunday morning.

The Morgantown Police Department responded to a call at 2:40 a.m. on Sunday and found Bryant injured at 368 High Street, the location of Gibbies Pub & Eatery, a popular bar in the downtown area.

Morgantown police chief Ed Preston said Bryant refused medical attention and would not give a statement to officers. Preston said any description of Bryant’s injuries would not be public record, and as such, refused to divulge any details.

According to Preston, Bryant’s attorney James A. “Rocky” Gianola has since informed police that Bryant has declined to press charges. The case is now officially considered closed.

UPDATE:West Virginia issues a short statement on the matter later on Monday.

“We’re aware of the situation," Bob Huggins said in a prepared statement. "Truck (Bryant) is fine and we look forward to playing Thursday at Pitt.”
