While the contract itself refers to Patterson only as "Assistant Football Coach," the job description attached indicates one of Patterson's duties will be to "serve as the co-defensive coordinator and coach [a] position as assigned by the Head Coach."
The contract of Joe DeForest, signed Jan. 14, refers to the longtime Oklahoma State assistant as "Associate Head Football Coach/co-Defensive Coordinator." DeForest is to make $500,000 per year. His contract is also good for three years.
West Virginia officially announced Patterson's hiring on Feb. 22. Holgorsen completed his staff with the addition of Erik Slaughter, announced Tuesday.

Roberts has indicated such on Twitter, acknowledging a tweet from WVU signee Brandon Napoleon in which Napoleon referred to Roberts as his position coach.
The openings on the Mountaineer staff were created when longtime defensive coordinator Jeff Casteel left for the same position at Arizona, taking defensive line coach Bill Kirelawich and cornerbacks coach David Lockwood with him in January.
