K.J. Gets The Call

Posted Jun 30, 2012

Kevin Jones had to wait for longer than he likely anticipated, but the former WVU forward now has his NBA opportunity.

Jones tweeted Saturday afternoon that he would be joining the Cleveland Cavaliers after agreeing to a deal with that franchise.

Jones, in a pair of tweets, expressed his appreciation to the Cavs for “believing in me and my abilities” and promised “to keep working hard and improving every day.”

Michael Carvelli of the Daily Athenaeum had previously reported the Cavs were the first team to get in touch with Jones’ agent after the NBA Draft, when Jones was not among the 60 selections.

A Mount Vernon, N.Y., native, Jones averaged 19.9 points and 10.9 rebounds per game as a senior at West Virginia. He was a first-team all-Big East selection.
