Miles Apart

Donovan Miles

Donovan Miles will be a fifth-year senior for WVU's 2012 season, so the team's offseason strength and conditioning program is nothing new. But this summer was unlike any other before for the linebacker-turned-fullback.

Because of the position move, Miles actually had to focus on slimming down instead of packing on more weight. That process has come along nicely, as Miles was sporting a slightly more svelte physique when Mountaineer players met with reporters Wednesday.

He has also spent considerable time in the film room, watching video of himself from spring practice and comparing it to fellow fullback Ryan Clarke's play. Miles said he admires Clarke's physicality and tries to emulate it himself.

Though the position move came suddenly during the spring after Matt Lindamood left the program, leaving Miles only a handful of practices to adapt to his new spot, the Stafford, Va., native said he is as comfortable as he could hope to be heading into preseason camp.

"We all train together, but for me, there's been a big difference," Miles said of his summer. "I'm preparing differently ... it's been a big change."

Miles discussed his progress and his prospects for the season in the following interview:
