USA Juniors Bounced From Medal Contention

The USA Junior National Team's strategy of playing a short rotation caught up to them against Australia as they were eliminated from the medal round.

The Aussies routed the US 106-85 to relegate the US to the consolation round. Five US players combined for 150 of the game's available 200 minutes.

West Virginia sophomore Kevin Pittsnogle was again largely ignored, gathering only four minutes in the contest. He did manage to snare one rebound in his limited appearance.

In the six games to date, Pittsnogle, who led the team in scoring at the Global Games tournament, has averaged just 8.2 minutes per game. Only Duke's J. J. Redick, who has been battling an injury, has seen less time.

The team will return to action Saturday against Slovenia in a consolation game. The best possible finish for the US is fifth.
