Smith Earns Walter Camp Weekly Award

Posted Sep 2, 2012

Geno Smith's stellar 32-36 passing performance in WVU's 69-34 demolition of Marshall has earned him the Walter Camp Football Foundation offensive player of the week.

Geno Smith was nearly flawless against the Herd in earning the nod. The senior QB from Miami, Fla., accounted for five touchdowns (4 passing, 1 running) as the 11th-ranked Mountaineers defeated Marshall, 69-34. Smith completed 32-of-36 passes for 323 yards and rushed for 65 more yards and one score in just three quarters of work.

This is the ninth year that the Walter Camp Football Foundation will honor one offensive and one defensive player as its national Bowl Championship Subdivision player of the week during the regular season. Recipients are selected by a panel of national media members and administered by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
