Former Houston Texans running back Steve Slaton will audition for the Chicago Bears today, according to a league source. Slaton, who rushed for 1,282 yards and nine touchdowns as a rookie four years ago with the Texans, has also played for the Miami Dolphins and was cut during the final major roster cutdown this summer

Slaton could be needed with running back Matt Forte dealing with a right ankle injury that could sideline him for the next few weeks.

The Bears have Michael Bush in place as the starter with Forte sidelined.

He rushed for 54 yards on 14 carries against the Green Bay Packers.
