In the last week, Dana Holgorsen has mentioned on no fewer than three occasions that he worried his quarterback, Geno Smith, was blaming himself for WVU's struggles too much. The senior said that hasn't been an issue, though.

Offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson said TCU's 4-2-5 defensive scheme isn't overly complicated, but players and coaches have gotten well-versed in it the longer Horned Frogs coach Gary Patterson has been in Fort Worth.

Co-defensive coordinator Joe DeForest expressed confidence the much-maligned Mountaineer defense could have a bounce-back performance, as practices over the course of the off week were conducted well.

Center Joey Madsen offered his opinion on what has given the team's offense issues in recent weeks and discussed the challenge the offensive line faces against TCU's talented defensive ends, Stansly Maponga and Devonte Fields.
