Coach Bob Huggins took personal blame for the loss, acknowledging that his job is to get better play from those he recruited. But he also subtly called the effort of some players into question, acknowledging a few aren't putting in the extra work necessary to improve.
Huggins told players that he has had teams shoot poorly, but made up for that deficiency with strong defense and rebounding performances. WVU's Matt Humphrey said those facets of play failed the team on Tuesday as well.
Guard Gary Browne acknowledged the loss to the Dukes is one that will hurt West Virginia's NCAA tournament resume, but said last year's team proved that a late surge is hardly out of the question as this team improves.
