Texas Tech came up short in its first overtime game of the season and Steve Strain weighs in on it from Vegas.

So close...

The Lady Raiders played their first overtime game of the season on Thursday evening and while they ended up on the wrong side of a 50-48 loss, it did a lot in showing they're ready for what lies ahead in a couple weeks and that's conference play.

That was a GOOD Michigan State team - especially defensively.

And it told me a lot when MSU had a lead of 9 in the second half and the Lady Raiders found a way to send it to the extra five minutes and nearly get the win.

You could argue that they could have won it in regulation.  Several times they had chances to tie or lead and had careless turnovers.

Let's hope they grow from that and take advantage of the opportunities they are given.

Because few teams have been given the chances Tech had Thursday but the Lady Raiders created those opportunities - now they just have to finish.

Oregon State Friday, a bigger, but less talented team that Michigan State beat Wednesday by 11.  Will check in then.
