Watkins Lands Kentucky Offer

Galion (OH) wide receiver Dareian Watkins is not only one of the more versatile 2014 prospects in Ohio, but also one of the highest-rated. Watkins already has an impressive offer list, and Tuesday he landed his first SEC offer.

Dareian Watkins is one of the top 2014 prospects in Ohio, and also one of the more versatile. Although being recruited primarily as a wide receiver, the Galion athlete could also play quarterback or safety at the next level.

Watkins, 6-foot-2, 185-pounds, currently holds more than 15 offers, including Northwestern, Louisville, Iowa and West Virginia. Tuesday afternoon, he picked up an SEC offer.

"Kentucky just offered," Watkins stated. "I just got off the phone with Coach (Vince) Marrow and he told me they were offering me a scholarship. This is a great honor for me, and my cousin (Teven Eatmon) plays there. Playing with him would be pretty awesome."

"I'd like to get down there soon for a visit, but I need to speak to my parents about that," he added. "I was there before for the game against Louisville, and I like Kentucky a lot. The only visit I have planned is to Northwestern in a couple of weeks."

Watkins is currently ranked as a three-star recruit, and is the number-38 wide receiver prospect in America.
