When Jon Hammond coached West Virginia to a national championship in 2009, he could be excused for thinking success would continue to come easily. It was a surprise title, early in his career as WVU was rebuilding its program. Now, after winning the program's 15th championship, he has a greater appreciation of what it takes to stay at the top.

Senior Petra Zublasing finished her career at West Virginia as one of the most decorated student-athletes in school history -- a three-time individual national champion and the first shooter to win both the smallbore and air rifle individual championships since Matthew Emmons of Alaska-Fairbanks (who went on to win Olympic gold a few years later) in 2001.
