Much of the focus was rightly on WVU's 2012 senior class at Pro Day on Thursday, but former quarterback Pat White also attracted a bit of attention. In one of his most forthcoming interviews ever, White discussed the reasons he left the game of football behind -- and why he is now so determined to get back in.

Tavon Austin was one of the biggest stars of the NFL Combine, but he said he wanted to show better route-running ability on Pro Day. He has already had a workout with the Philadelphia Eagles and has others scheduled in the coming days and weeks.

Geno Smith met with reporters just after a lengthy meeting with representatives from the Jacksonville Jaguars. He said he felt he did a good job of displaying his ability to make every throw a quarterback would need to make, and that the majority of conversations he has had with teams have been more focused on the mental side of the game.

It's not likely any of the scouts in attendance came to Morgantown with intentions of looking at Ryan Nehlen, but Nehlen's workout performance may have made a few teams take notice. He discussed the pressure that came with only having one shot to make a good impression.

Jeff Braun is just looking for an opportunity -- be it as a draft pick or a free agent. He looked to teammates for guidance ahead of Pro Day, particularly former WVU lineman Don Barclay, who was picked up as a free agent by the Green Bay Packers this past year, and Joey Madsen, who was at the NFL Combine.

Madsen was pleased with his performance, saying he had showed real improvement since the Combine. He indicated he has had to answer questions about his academic shortcomings in conversations with NFL teams, but that the only way to deal with those questions is by being direct -- owning up to his mistakes and the fact that he let teammates down.

The teams have already started to come calling for Stedman Bailey, who will have a private workout for scouts from the Carolina Panthers on Friday along with Tavon Austin. He said some projections have indicated he could be a second-round pick.
