Leadership Keys

Darwin Cook

West Virginia is looking for leadership on its 2013 football team, and two players on the defensive side are strong candidates for thao

After a subpar 2012 season, everyone from head coach Dana Holgorsen to safeties coach Tony Gibson to his teammates are looking for Darwin Cook to be a standout performer, and he thinks the changes in techniques and assignments will position him to make more plays in 2013. He and his fellow safeties showed the potential for that in the spring game, when they registered several big hits and were factors, as they must be, against the run and the pass.

Up front, defensive lineman Will Clarke is another candidate to take the reins on a defense that is searching for an identity. He knows that his actions will be the first thing others will watch in the leadership arena, and he's focused on doing all the right things to help get the Mountaineers defense back on track.

In this clip, Clarke also discusses the performance of the defensive line, the changes in tactics that are targeted for success, and the team's opinion on the new uniforms.
