West Virginia infielder Billy Fleming and head coach Randy Mazey were upfront about the Mountaineers' shortcomings in the loss to Pitt, but both displayed the never say die attitude that has sparked the team this year.

Fleming committed a baserunning error that cost the Mountaineers a run in the late going, and he squared up in describing the mistake as a crucial one. His description, and attitude in addressing it, spoke volumes to the way in which the Mountaineers have improved this year.

Mazey noted that Pitt did more to win the game than West Virginia did to lose it, but noted that he felt good about the team, owing to the way in which it rallied and exhibited grittiness when faced with a big deficit. He also voiced his appreciation with the big crowd that turned out to support the team.
