Preston Makes Fifteen

Late on Halloween night, Xavier Preston committed to West Virginia.

Xavier Preston confirmed his commitment in an earlier Tweet with a text message to's Jon Martin that he had committed to the Mountaineers, and spoke with the coaches about his choice.

Preston, who visited WVU for the Georgia State game on Sept. 14, told a bit more about that trip earlier in the day.

"I enjoyed that one pretty well. It was nice to get out of Florida. It was pretty nice up there. It felt like home. All the coaches are very cool. I got to see how things were. I saw the players and all that."

A 6-2, 220-pound outside linebacker, Preston had offers from more than a dozen schools. He had also set visits for Rutgers and N.C. State later this year, but those were apparently scheduled prior to his commitment.

Just after his visit to WVU, he told that he could see himself playing for the Mountaineers.

"The undefined told me a lot about the school, some things that the coaches had told me. I got a lot of insight on it. What they told me was similar to what the coaches had told me, so I appreciate their honesty," he said. "The game was really fun, they almost had a shutout, so I really liked that. They only allowed seven points in the game and it was off a long run. It was a packed house, good atmosphere."

Preston is the third linebacker in this class, joining Edward Muldrow III and Davonte James.
