Two more trips scheduled for Thorpe

After a solid sophomore campaign, Highland DL Brandon Thorpe (6-5, 275) has turned his focus toward recruiting and, with just three official visit weekends available to him, he's filling up his itinerary and spoke with JCFootball.com about which two schools he will visit and when as well as when we can expect a decision on where he will play in 2014...

"I've already visited West Virginia (12/7) and North Texas (12/14) and I'm visiting UCF on January 24th and Texas Tech on January 17th," Thorpe told JCFootball.com. "I have one visit left that I can take and I'm still open to taking one, but right now I'm not real sure on if I will take it or not and who it would be to if I did decide to visit.

"I know I want to take these final two and then we'll see where things stand. If I am ready to make my decision after the last visit that I have scheduled, then I will commit to a school, but if I still want to see another school, I can always do that, so it's a nice option to have."

As a sophomore this past season, Thorpe helped lead the Scotties to a 6-4 record, their first winning record since the turn of the century, by posting 31 tackles, three sacks, 3.5 tackles-for-loss and five forced fumbles as well as a fumble recovery.

"I felt like I had a good season and that I really improved from my freshman season to this year," Thorpe said. "I'm still working hard though on everything from my strength, to my quickness and just making sure I'm ready to go once I arrive at the school I plan to play at in the summer."

Thorpe is on pace to graduate in May and he will have three years to play two starting in the fall.
