With Signing Day upon it, West Virginia finds itself in hot pursuit of a handful of top prospects who are still uncommitted. BlueGoldNews.com examines those players and breaks down the likelihood of landing their commitments.

West Virginia remains hopeful of landing several top prospects as we reach the final hours prior to Signing Day. We examine each remaining prospect involved with the Mountaineers and where they stand in their recruitment.

C.J. Worton - Homestead (Fla.)

After a flurry of activity involving his recruitment over the last month, Worton will decide between West Virginia and Florida. A longtime pledge to Florida State, Worton decommitted from the Seminoles in mid-January following a visit to West Virginia.

Worton is intrigued about playing in a spread offense like the Mountainneers utilize.

"West Virginia's offense is everything for a wide receiver," he told BlueGoldNews.com. "That's one thing I've been looking for throughout this entire process."

Florida, however, offers similar possibilities. The Gators hope to utilize Worton in an identical way, but also offer the benefit of staying close to home, which is believed to be valuable to his family.

Worton, who made his decision on Monday and let both coaches know of his choice, will announce publicly on Wednesday.

Donte Thomas-Williams - Durham (N.C.)

All signs point to a positive outcome for West Virginia leading into signing day. Thomas-Williams, who has held the Mountaineers in high regard throughout the duration of his recruitment, squashed a potential visit to Vanderbilt this past weekend.

A late push from North Carolina State looked to give the Mountaineers a bit of competition, though they elected to accept a commitment from an offensive lineman, closing out their class.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound, four-star running back will officially sign at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

D'Cota Dixon - New Smyrna Beach (Fla.)

Over the last two weekends, Dixon visited both Wisconsin and West Virginia, hoping to achieve clarity in a decision on his future school.

Despite naming a final three of West Virginia, Wisconsin and Michigan State, it's believed the three-star safety will choose between the Mountaineers and Badgers, where Dixon identifies similarities.

"They were both similar to me because they both have great people," he said. "That's what I'm looking for and that's going to be my deciding factor."

Some close to Dixon believed he's been silently committed to the Badgers since his visit. However, a strong bond with Mountaineer assistant Joe DeForest could propel West Virginia to the top.

Dixon plans to announce at a ceremony on Signing Day.

Harry Randall - Pittsburgh (Pa.)

Even though Randall hasn't had the most publicized recruitment of most prospects, that doesn't diminish his value on the recruiting scene.

A variety of schools were awaiting test results for Randall, who had to delay his official visits while anticipating the outcome. However, that didn't stop West Virginia from extending an offer based on the level of his SAT score.

Randall, a 6-foot, 185 pound two-way athlete who plays both quarterback and safety for Woodland Hills HS, has narrowed his top choices to West Virginia, Georgia Tech and Massachusetts.

Though it's thought to be unlikely the Mountaineers will accept Randall at this time, he's still a possibility in this class at some point.
