The three-star recruit confirmed his commitment via text message to BlueGoldNews.com Friday.
Kevin Williams woke up to a surprise on Thursday. After not having much contact before in his recruitment from West Virginia, it came as quite the shock to be the recipient of an offer from the Mountaineers.
"I'm excited," Williams proclaimed after receiving the offer. "I didn't think they would offer me, but it shows hard work pays off and I'm really excited."
"The offer came as a surprise to me," Williams continued. "I haven't had much contact with them, just a whole bunch of letters. So I was surprised."
Not having much familiarity with West Virginia, the Scout.com three-star leans on a pair of former Mountaineers for his knowledge, yet hopes to see what the program has to offer for himself in the near future.
"I don't know much about them really, but I'm going to look into them," he explained after receiving the offer, but before committing. "I'm going to see if I can get up there and see how it is and see if I like it. A couple of my favorite players, Tavon Austin and Geno Smith, came from West Virginia. I used to watch Tavon all the time."
A self described "hard-hitter", the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Williams believes he could be a perfect fit in the Mountaineers defense roaming the secondary making plays.
"I'm physical, a very physical player," Williams described. "I'm going to come up and hit you. I spend a lot of time in the weight room and try to play physical. If you watch my highlight film you'll see I like to come up and make plays and hit people."
