The WVU Alumni Association invites all Mountaineer fans to a pair of events prior to the WVU - St. Louis basketball game in Charleston on December 2.

Basketball fever has hit West Virginia University. As excitement builds for the WVU-St. Louis match-up, WVU's Alumni Association is gearing up by hosting a "Meet the Mountaineers" reception Monday (Dec. 1), from 6:30-9 p.m., at the Charleston Marriott.

The reception will feature a radio broadcast of the "John Beilein Show" hosted by popular Mountaineer play-by-play announcer Tony Caridi. Coach Beilein and the entire basketball team will mingle with WVU fans, and audience members will have the opportunity to show their Mountaineer pride as the MetroNews Radio Network broadcasts "live" to a statewide audience.

All WVU alumni, friends and their guests are invited to the free event sponsored by State Farm Insurance. Everyone who attends will be entered into a drawing for a pair of lower level tickets to the Jan. 21 WVU-Marshall basketball game.

"We are looking forward to rooting for the Mountaineers as they play the St. Louis Billikens," said Steve Douglas, chief executive officer of the WVU Alumni Association. "Our local chapter, our team and Coach Beilein all deserve our support. This is a terrific opportunity for our Kanawha Valley alumni, families and friends to come together in support of our men's basketball program."

The WVU Mountaineers are set to square off against the St. Louis Billikens at 7 p.m. Tuesday (Dec. 2) at the Charleston Civic Center. Tickets can be purchased at the Charleston Civic Center Box Office or by calling 1-800-WVU-GAME.

The WVU Athletics Department is offering Southern West Virginia members of the Mountaineer Parents Club a special $17 lower level ticket (limit of 10 tickets per order). To take advantage of the discount, call 304-293-2506 or e-mail inquiries to: parents_club@mail.wvu.edu.

The Kanawha Valley Chapter of the WVU Alumni Association also invites all fans heading the the big game to join them at a Mountaineer Gathering held at Joey's starting at 5:00 pm on Tuesday (Dec. 2). Joey's is located at 115 Quarrier Street, near the Charleston Civic Center.
