WVU's jumping jack forward shook off the effects of several bumps and bruises to spark WVU's effort against Syracuse.

Gansey scored 11 points on 5-12 shooting from the field, and hit one of his three three-point attempts. He also grabbed eight rebounds (including three on the offensive end), and recorded four assists and four steals in 32 minutes of action.

Gansey showed he was back early in the game, when he roared in from the wing for a tip in dunk to rescue a Mountaineer possession and keep West Virginia from betting blown out early. He had a couple more boards where he came off the weakside and leaped above the crowd to snare the ball, and also had another signature play during WVU's final rally.

After the Mountaineers missed a long jumper, the slender junior outraced three Orange to the corner, tracked the ball down, and saved it back to point guard J. D. Collins, who found Patrick Beilein for a three-pointer that cut the Syracuse lead to single digits.
