Greg Jones: National Champion!

Greg Jones completed a storybook season by wining the NCCA Wrestling national championship in the 174 pound wieght class on Saturday.

Jones decesioned Greg Parker of Princeton 12-5 in the title match, and was in control the whole way.

In the first period, Jones scored two takedowns, while Parker managed only two escapes, which left Jones leading 4-2 at the end of the period.

Jones then added a single point with an escape to push his lead to 5-2 entering the third period.

The third period fell into a pattern of escapes and takedowns, with Jones wreslting aggressively despite his lead. Parker managed three escapes, but Jones responded each time with another takedown and a final riding point for the 12-5 win.
