Can't wait the 60 days until freshmen football players report? Does the first game of the season seem 3 years, not 3 months, away? Pass the time by getting out to a WVU Alumni Association function in your area!

There are lots of activities to help renew your ties to WVU friends and families this summer while we wait for the fall sports season to kick off, so why not get out to one or more of them? You'll finds old friends, make new ones, and help support West Virginia University. What more, short of a football game, could you ask for?

Many alumni activities are listed on the Association's web page, but there are a couple that we'd like to draw your attention to.

The first is coming up this week - a trip to the ballpark for baseball. It's WVU Alumni Night At The Ballpark with the Washington Wild Things on Thursday, June 6.

Come out with your family and friends for a fun night at the ballpark and enjoy the Pre-game ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT picnic buffet! (Starts @ 5:30PM ends @ 7:00PM)

Total cost is $30 - includes game ticket, food and transportation to and from the game from Morgantown.

For questions or more information, please contact Gregg Cave with the Alumni Association @ (304) 293-4731 or gregg.cave@mail.wvu.edu.

The next one is for those thousands of Mountaineers who travel to Myrtle Beach each summer.

The Grand Strand Chapter is announcing its 2nd Annual "Mountaineer Day at the Beach", Sunday, June 16, 2002. The day begins with the "Mountaineer Golf Challenge" at 9:00 am at Bay Tree Golf Plantation, North Myrtle Beach, SC.

The golf tournament is a four person Captain's Choice format. Enter as an individual, as a couple, or as a team. The cost is $30.00 per person which includes golf, cart, and awards. Trophies to be awarded for the first three places at the evening social/annual meeting. Also, there will be a drawing for two putters.

At 4:30 p.m. the festivities move to Club Boca/Froggy Bottomz, Celebrity Square, Broadway at the Beach, Myrtle Beach for dinner and social time. Cost for the evening is $10.00 per person with those 10 and under free. There will also be door prizes and a 50-50 raffle.
