West Virginia University wrestler Greg White has been named an alternate to the University World Freestyle Wrestling team.

White, who finished second in the recently concluded University National Championships in Evanston, Illinois, earned a place as an alternate in the 50 kilogram (110 pound) weight class.

White, a junior from Mannington, W.Va., defeated Skyler Wright 11-8 for the right to compete for the alternate spot.

In that match, White won by forfeit over Tim Morris to finish second. The world championships will be held in Edmonton, Ontario, June 21-26.
