Leading the parade was kicker/punter Pat McAfee, who kicked a career-high four field goals in West Virginia’s triple-overtime 41-39 win over Rutgers on Dec. 2. The sophomore, a ntive of Plum, Pa., connected from 38, 32, 30 and 42 yards. His 30-yard field goal with 43 seconds remaining tied the game at 23-23 and sent the contest into overtime. McAfee also punted three times for
an average of 52.7 yards, including a career-best 75-yarder.
Two Mountaineers also made the Big East Honor Roll for their performances in the contest. Redshirt freshman quarterback Jarrett Brown completed 14-of-29 passes for 244 yards and one touchdown, and added 17 rushes for 73 yards and another score in his first career start in place of the injured Patrick White.
Sophomore running back Steve Slaton added 23 carries for 112 yards and two scores, and also had 37 yards receiving. Slaton became WVU's all-time single season rushing leader with his performance.
