Mountaineers Land Four-Star Safety

Eain Smith

Four-star Florida Eain Smith committed to the West Virginia Mountaineers just minutes ago. BlueGoldNews spoke to Smith about his commitment and his future Big East battles with a current teammate.

West Virginia continues to build on one of the best recruiting classes in the history of the school. Just minutes ago, the Mountaineers landed four-star Florda safety Eain Smith.

"I just committed a few minutes ago," Smith said. "Coach (Calvin) Magee texted me and asked how my trip to South Carolina went and he hoped I was still thinking about West Virginia because they want me there. So, I called him and told him I cancelled the official and said I am coming to West Virginia."

Smith told us that the family feel at WVU sealed the deal for him. "I love the family environemt there. The defensive scheme that they run is very similar to what we run at Chaminade Madonna."

Smith, who is being recruited to playe the spur position in the WVU defense has already begun the smack talking towards one of his teammates and now future opponents. Running back Xavier Stinson committed to Pittsburgh earlier in the season.

"Oh, he doesn't even know I committed yet," Smith said. "We'll have some fun with that, but in the "Backyard Brawl" it will be on and I'm going win that battle."
