Pennsylvania Defensive Back commits to WVU

Vaughn Rivers, an excellent two way player from Perry Traditional academy in Pittsburgh, ahs given West Virginia a verbal commitment.

Rivers, who attended Nike Camp in North Carolina as well as visiting WVU, is a 5-8, 160 pound defensive back and wide receiver. He plays both wide receiver and defensive back for Perry.

He recorded 12 touchdowns on offense and 10 interceptions on defense last season.

Rivers helped the Perry Commodores to a City Championship last year by catching 12 passes for 265 yards and seven touchdowns and returning three kicks for scores.

Rivers earned All-City honors and was named league Defensive MVP. He was one of just six juniors to be named to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette's Fabolous 22 Team.

Rivers carries a 3.4 GPA and has scored a 900 on the SAT. Rivers received interest from Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Pitt, Kansas State and Penn State as well as WVU.
