Although not disclosed in the announcement, the subject of the meeting is reportedly the WVU men's soccer program. The meeting is not a surprise, as it concerns a situation that came to light nearly nine months ago.
Just prior to the start of the 2006 season, West Virginia fired former soccer coach Mike Seabolt after it discovered potential NCAA violations. West Virginia self-reported the violations to the NCAA and dismissed Seabolt, "in the best interests of the department," according to Director of Athletics Ed Pastilong.
Pastilong and WVU declined to reveal the nature of the potential violations. However, West Virginia has been fully cooperative during the entire situation, having both conducted an internal investigation and meeting with the NCAA.
Seabolt was replaced by Marlon LeBlanc, who led the Mountaineers to the NCAA tournament. There is no indication of any improprieties concerning this year's West Virginia team.
