Football Recruiting Swings Back Into Gear

Posted Sep 25, 2002

After nearly a month of relatively low activity on the home front, football recruiting will again swing into high gear with this weekend's home football game.

Of course, the Mountianeer staff hasn't been ignoring recruiting - they've been out scouting and making visits heavily over the past couple of weeks.

During the Cincinnati road trip, several coaches didn't make it to the Queen City until late Friday night or Saturday morning, owing to recruiting trips. Likewise, during the past off week, the Mountaineer staff was on the road a great deal as WVU had a lightened practice schedule.

With this week's return to action, however, the football program will host several visits of both the official and unofficial variety.

One of the top areas of need for WVU this year is offensive line, and on the visit list for the weekend is Zach Beebe, an offensive lineman from Mount Lebanon High School in Pennsylvania. At 6-5 and 280 pounds, Beebe has the frame and reach that coaches look for in an offensive lineman.

Also expected to visit are three WVU verbal commitments. Tight ends Chris Bassler and Mike Villagrana, along with defensive end Keilen Dykes, are scheduled to visit and watch the WVU-ECU clash.

Two of WVU's top instate prospects, wide receiver Seth Fogarty and defensive back Geremy Rodamer, both of Morgantown High School, are also expected to be on campus.
