The Avon Cobourne Show headlines our player of the game selections for East Carolina.

In possibly the easiest selection in the history of this award, Avon Cobourne grabbed the BlueGoldNews.com player of the game honors for his 260 yard two touchdown performance against East Carolina. Cobourne did not lose any yards from scrimmage, and averaged 8.7 yards per carry on the day in which he became the all-time leading rusher at West Virginia.

Cobourne came up just short of the single game record of 291 yards, held by Kerry Marbury.

On defense, this week’s selection is linebacker Ben Collins. Collins had three tackles, but saved his best performance for the passing game, where he made an acrobatic interception off a Grant Wiley deflection,. and broke up another Paul Troth toss.

Collins also had a couple of ringing hits, including a big stick on the Pirates’ Richard Alston.
