West Virginia quarterback Patrick White has been named Big East Offensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season.

White, a junior from Daphne, Ala., is the first Big East player to pull the feat in back-to-back seasons since Donovan McNabb, and just the third player ever to receive the honor twice.

The star signalcaller finished third in the conference in rushing with 1,185 yards and 14 touchdowns while adding 1,548 yards and 12 touchdowns through the air en route to a 10-2 regular season for the Mountaineers.

"I am very proud of Pat and what he has accomplished this season," head coach Rich Rodriguez said in a statement released by the school. "He has worked hard both on and off the field and has had an outstanding year. He also has handled success very well throughout his career and in a first-class manner and is deserving of any honor that comes his way."

White was also one of seven unanimous selections to the All-Big East first team as voted on by the coaches. Mountaineer players joining White on the first team are sophomore left guard Greg Isdaner, senior defensive lineman Keilen Dykes, and senior safety Eric Wicks.

The Mountaineers placed six players on the second team, including receiver Darius Reynaud, running back Steve Slaton, center Mike Dent, kicker Pat McAfee, defensive lineman Johnny Dingle, and linebacker Marc Magro.

One Mountaineer conspicuously absent from the list was junior offensive tackle Ryan Stanchek.

"Ryan had an outstanding season and deserves to be honored for it," Rodriguez said. "He was one of our leaders on the offensive line this season and in my opinion played at an all-conference level."

South Florida defensive end George Selvie was named Big East Defensive Player of the Year, while punter Kevin Huber of Cincinnati was honored as Special Teams Player of the Year. The Coach of the Year was first year Bearcat leader Brian Kelly. Pitt running back LeSean McCoy was named the league's top rookie.

West Virginia will conclude its season in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on January 2 against Oklahoma.
