Alexander Earns Coaches' Selection

West Virginia junior Joe Alexander has been selected to the District 4 first team by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.

The NABC announced today its Division I All-District teams, recognizing the nation’s best men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes. Selected and voted on by member coaches of the NABC, these student-athletes represent the finest basketball players across America.

Alexander was a first team pick in District 4, and was joined by Georgetown's Roy Hibbert on that squad. Alexander is averaging 15.7 points and six rebounds for West Virginia.

The 150 selected student-athletes, from 15 districts, are now eligible for the State Farm Division I All-America teams to be announced on Saturday, April 5, at the 2008 NABC Convention in San Antonio.

Located in Kansas City, Mo., the NABC was founded in 1927 by Forrest “Phog” Allen, the legendary basketball coach at the University of Kansas. Allen, a student of James Naismith, the inventor of basketball, organized coaches into this collective group to serve as Guardians of the Game. The NABC currently claims nearly 5,000 members consisting primarily of university and college men’s basketball coaches.
