In a 17-3 win over UConn in game
three, Yurish gave up three runs off
seven hits and struck out six in 8.1
innings of work to improve his record
to 5-1 on the season.

The Mountaineers return to action this weekend when they
travel to Queens, N.Y. to take on St. John’s in a three-game series
… game one is slated to begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 2 …
game two will be played on Saturday, May 3, at 1 p.m., followed

The West Virginia University rowing team traveled to Oak Ridge, Tenn., to compete in the Big East
Championships on Melton Hill Lake.

The varsity eight squad finished with a time of 7:12.47 in the preliminary round of competition at the Big East Championships on Sunday, April 27 ... the Mountaineers then went on to finish behind Louisville in the
varsity eight petite finals with a time of 7:19.64 ... the varsity four posted a time of 8:24.60 in the preliminary
round to move on to the afternoon finals … there, the Mountaineers recorded a time of 8:27.5 in the varsity four
petite finals ... also competing at the Big East Championships was the novice eight boat that posted a time of

WVU freshman Katelyn Williams won the college division high jump at the Penn Relays in Philadelphia
… the Chesterland, Ohio, native high-jumped 1.77 meters or 5-feet-9¾ inches while Natasha Redman
finished ninth after clearing a height of 1.64m … Alexandra Acker was WVU’s other competitor in the field
events ... Acker placed 18th in the pole vault at 3.49 meters … West Virginia did have success in its relays
… the distance medley relay team of Katelyn Christopher, Katelyn Williams, Karly Hamric and Keri Bland
set an outdoor school record with a time of 11:19.81 … the 4x400 relay placed 33rd at 3:47.61 … the relay
was run by April Rotilio, Halimah Bashir, Chelsea Carrier and Brittany Hohn … the same group ran the 4x100
meter relay to a 37th- place finish at 47.28 … Carrier also ran the 100-meter hurdles and placed 22nd with a
time of 14.23, while Bashir competed in the 400 intermediate hurdles and took 41st (1:04.64).
