West Virginia University pitcher Matt Yurish earned a spot on the Big East Weekly Honor Roll for the week of May 12 after enjoying a stellar performance against conference foe and defending NCAA runner-up Louisville.

Yurish went 1-0 during the week, throwing a complete-game against the Cardinals while allowing only one earned run on seven hits. The left-hander also had nine strikeouts and walked only one batter.

Yurish improved to 6-1 after his most impressive start this season. The Martinsburg, W.Va., native also has a 3.50 ERA in 64.1 innings pitched, and leads the Mountaineers with 73 strikeouts.

The senior is the seventh Mountaineer this season to be named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll, and is the third WVU pitcher to garner the honor. Shortstop Tyler Kuhn was the last Mountaineer to be named to the weekly honor roll during the week of April 7, and is also the only player from WVU to be named the Big East Player of the Week
