Sophomore running back Noel Devine earned the offensive player of the week award after rushing for a game- and career-high 188 yards on just 18 carries. That included a 92-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter to spark West Virginia’s 17-6 win against Syracuse. WVU is now 2-0 in Big East play. It was Devine's third 100-yard game of the season.
WVU also had two players with noteworthy performances earn spots on the Big East honor roll.
Kicker/punter Pat McAfee averaged 47.0 yards on four punts and scored four points in the win against Syracuse. The points moved him into a tie for fourth place on the Big East career scoring chart (334), and also set a West Virginia scoring record.
Safety Quinton Andrews had a game-high nine tackles with two pass breakups in the win, which earned him the final spot on the awards list.
