Mailloux guided the Mountaineers
to a pair of shutouts in conference play,
posting a 3-0 win over Providence
and a 0-0 tie with Connecticut. The
WVU defense has not allowed a goal in the last 220
minutes of action.
The Mississaugua, Ontario, native helped limit
the Friars and Huskies to three shots on-goal in the
two victories. The clean sheets were the ninth and
tenth of the year for the Mountaineer defense.
The rifle team opens conference play on Saturday at
Army. Last season, the Mountaineers finished in third
place at the GARC Championships and went 4-2 in
GARC play.

The Mountaineers will compete in the Penn State National Invitational held in University Park, Pa., on Oct. 17

The Mountaineers broke from regular-season action and hosted their annual Alumni Match on Oct. 10 at the
WVU Rifle Range … alumni and current team members participated in a 40-shot standing course with the gun of

The West Virginia University rowing team is idle this week ... they will continue action on Saturday, Nov. 1 with
a trip to the Head of the Occoquan, in Fairfax Station, Va.

The Mountaineers competed in their fi rst race of the fall season with a trip to the Head of the Ohio, on the
Allegheny River in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Saturday, Sept. 27.

The Mountaineers competed well at the Head of the Ohio as the varsity four team ‘A’ boat took second place
in the open +4 race with a time of 17:06.7 ... the boat of Jenelle Spencer, Kensie Phillips, Kim Benda, Alita Meyers
and coxswain Stephanie Brown fi nished just behind the Baltimore Rowing Club ... the team ‘B’ boat of Keyara
Stevenson, Katie Walsh, Rachel Viglianco, Brett Krumholz and coxswain Gillian Hanbury also had a good showing
with an eighth place fi nish (18:09.0).
“We compete at this early season regatta without any preparation for or emphasis on the regatta itself,” says
Head Coach Jimmy King. “Given the proximity of the regatta to Morgantown and the number of students we have on
the team from the Pittsburgh area, it’s one we don’t want to pass up. As such, we treat the regatta as an opportunity
to train in a more competitive environment and as a break from our routine on the Mon River.”

The West Virginia University men’s soccer team will play two home games this week … on Wednesday, Oct.
15, the Mountaineers welcome Ohio State to Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium … kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m., and the
game will be broadcast on WVPBS … on Saturday, Oct. 18, WVU will face BIG EAST opponent Seton Hall at 7 p.m.
… WVU is 9-6-3 all-time against the Buckeyes, and owns a 4-9-0 record against the Pirates.

The Mountaineers played Pitt at home on Oct. 8 and the teams fi nished in a 1-1 double-overtime draw …
senior Alex Yost gave the Mountaineers the 1-0 lead … sophomore Dan Hagey’s shot, which went past the Panthers’
goalkeeper and across the front of the goal, rolled to the feet of sophomore Paul Paradise … Paradise laid the ball
off to Yost who found the back right corner of the net … the Panthers answered back with a goal on a penalty kick at
