Part of the Process

Jonathan Scott

Florida safety Jonathan Scott was impressed with the reception he received at West Virginia on his recent visit, but he still has some trips to make before his final decision.

"It was a pretty good visit," said Scott, who checked out West Virginia for the first time on Oct. 11. "I got treated very well by everyone, including the coaches and the players. I really enjoyed the facilities, too. They have a wonderful weight room. It was a good visit."

Scott, who is being recruited as a free safety by most of the schools on his list, was hosted by fellow Floridian Boogie Allen.

"I didn't know Boogie before I came up to West Virginia, but we had a good time. We hung out, and he showed me a lot of things around campus, and told me a lot of things about the school. I really loved the town and the atmosphere for the game."

Scott has also visited Alabama, and has still to schedule his three remaining official visits. For now, LSU, Florida State and South Carolina look like the three favorites to nab the last trips, but Scott also said that it's not too late to enter the fray.

"I'm still kind of open, so other schools could come in. I will definitely take all of my visits before I make my choice. I don't really have a timetable for making my decision, but I would like to do it after the season, maybe around the time of our football banquet in December."

Scott is also concentrating on trying to help Seabreeze earn a playoff spot. At 4-3, that might be a tough chore, but Scott believes that he and his teammates are capable of going on an end-of-season winning streak and getting in. If they do, Scott will be a big part of it, as he is playing free safety, wide receiver and running back kicks. On the season, he has 25 tackles, two pass breakups and an interception, and has 130 yards in pass receptions.
