Three Honorees

Patrick White

West Virginia put two players on the Big East honor roll and another on the final list for a national award on Monday.

Quarterback Patrick White is one of five finalists for the 2008 Golden Arm award, presented annually to the nation's top senior college quarterback by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, Inc. and Transamerica.

White is a three-year starter and one of the nation's most versatile threats at QB. White is the Big East and West Virginia career QB rushing leader, with more than 3,500 yards. In 2007, he was West Virginia's top runner with 1,355 yards, while throwing for 1,724 yards and 14 touchdowns.

White is joined on the finalist list by Chase Daniel, Graham Harrell, Brian Johnson and John Parker Wilson.

Despite WVU's loss to Cincinnati, the Mountaineers still managed to put two players on the Big East Honor Roll of noteworthy performances.

Pat McAfee hit a 52-yard field goal as time expired to force overtime and kicked a 27-yard field goal in the extraa period in a 26-23 loss to Cincinnati. McAfee also averaged 45.8 yards on nine punts.

Linebacker J.T. Thomas recorded a team-high 11 tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss in the contest.
