A 6-foot-8, 255-pound forward, Dand Jennings is currently in his senior
year, playing for Coach Jere Quinn at St. Thomas More School in Oakdale,
Conn. St. Thomas More School is the same school that current Mountaineer
Devin Ebanks attended last season.
Jennings is ranked as the 23rd-best center in the 2009 class by
Scout.com.
“Danny plays as hard as any high school big man in the country,”
said Huggins. “He combines great size with a tremendous thirst to get
better. Danny gives us outstanding size and bulk that we’ve lacked the
last few years. He should develop into one of the premier rebounders in
the big East, and he is learning from a New England prep school legend
in Jere Quinn.”
As a junior at Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va., Jennings
averaged 10 points and seven rebounds per game. A native of Staten
Island, N.Y., Jennings transferred to Oak Hill Academy from Bishop
Loughlin High in Brooklyn, N.Y., for his junior season.
Jennings played AAU basketball for the New York Gauchos with current
WVU freshman point guard Darryl Bryant.
Jennings joins Dalton Pepper, a 6-foot-5, 215-pound shooting guard
(Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury High), and Deniz Kilicli, a 6-foot-9,
260-pound forward (Istanbul, Turkey/Mountain State Academy, Beckley,
W.Va.) in this year’s recruiting class.
