Palmer Enrolls

West Virginia Football Coach Bill Stewart has announced, today, that Chris Palmer, a 6-4, 290-pound defensive lineman from St. John Neumann High School in Philadelphia, Pa., has enrolled in school and will join the team for the spring semester.

Palmer originally signed with West Virginia in Feb. 2008, but chose to delay his enrollment while recovering from shoulder surgeries.

Palmer played through the injuries during his senior year of high school, in which he played on both sides of the ball, but ended up undergoing surgeries on both shoulders -- one in January and one in May. Following that, he knew that he would not be ready to play in 2008, and thus deferred his enrollment until now.

Palmer earned a spot on the Platinum 33 team as a senior by tallying 4 tackles, including seven for loss and three sacks. He was also a three-time all league honoree.

Palmer is expected to be joined by wide receivers Logan Heastie and Deon Long as spring enrollees.
