Final Visits

Frankie Davis

Lineman Frankie Davis has taken one recent trip and plans another for this coming weekend. Will either of them change his currently announced verbal commitment?

Davis, a quick defensive lineman who has the ability to get into gaps and hold ground at the point of attack, made a trip to West Virginia this past weekend. He also plans another visit to Colorado State this coming weekend before making his final decision. Davis had previously committed to UCF, but is now considering the other two schools on his visit list as well.

"My mind is kind of changing up a little bit after seeing West Virginia," said Davis, who was impressed with the friendly greetings he received on his visit. "It is between UCF and West Virginia right now. I was supposed to go to Iowa State, but I'm not taking that trip. I'm going to Colorado State for my final visit this weekend, and then I will be making my final decision sometime the week after that."

On his West Virginia visit, Davis received the full pitch, seeing both the athletic and academic sides of the Mountaineer program.

"The visit went really good," he said. "We went through all the facilities, then went out with guys to check out everything else. It was my first time at West Virginia, and I wasn't expecting everyone to be so nice. The weather was cold, but I can deal with that. That won't be something that would keep me from going there."

Davis was hosted by defensive lineman Julian Miller, whith whom he struck up a good relationship.

"He is a really great guy. He showed me around and told me a lot about the program. I also got to learn a lot about the majors I'm interested in. I am looking at business or sports management, and I learned a lot while I was there."

In high school, Davis showed good pass rushing skills from his interior line spot, something that has been in short supply at West Virginia. He is quick off the ball, and has the ability to shed blockers and get to runners before they have the chance to get to his level. He does have the frame to add some size, which could allow him to be even more effective in college.
