“Obviously, Joe still has pain in his shoulder and hasn’t
shown much improvement,” says head coach Bob Huggins. “Surgery is
the best option at this point, and he can spend the rest of the season
and summer getting ready for next year.”
Mazzulla, a junior from Johnston, R.I., played in seven games
this season, starting each one of those contests. He averaged 5.6
points, 3.7 assists and 2.3 rebounds per game. Mazzulla had a
season-high 13 points and dished out six assists in the win over Iowa.
The junior has been clearly favoring his left arm while sitting out, being careful not to raise it or bump his shoulder.
