It was a successful week for both the West Virginia men's and women's basketball programs, and the action was capped with honors for three members of the Gold and Blue.
For the second consecutive week, Devin Ebanks was named the Big East conference rookie of the week. Ebanks averaged a double-double in West Virginia's wins against Notre Dame and Rutgers. He had 11 points and nine rebounds with three assists in a 79-68 win against the Fighting Irish and had 14 points and 11 boards with four assists, two blocks and two steals in a 74-56 win against the Scarlet Knights.
Guard Alex Ruoff nabbed a spot on the league's honor roll with his contributions in the two wins. WVU's lone senior averaged 18.0 pts. in a 2-0 week, including a team-high 24 points and four assists in a win over Notre Dame.
On the women's side, sophomore guard Liz Repella had a monster week as the Mountaineers went 1-1. Repella averaged a double double in the two games, scoring 26.5 points and collecting 11 rebounds per contest. She exploded for 34 points on 10-of-17 shooting, including five three-pointers and a 9-10 performance at the free throw line against USF. She totalled 19 points and nine rebounds against Georgetown.
